FAQ
Craft & Heritage
Kani is a tapestry technique native to Kashmir, woven using wooden needles instead of a shuttle.
Each needle carries a specific colour, and the artisan follows a coded graph—
the design is built thread by thread, not printed or embroidered.
A single Kani shawl can take months, even years.
This is why Kani is considered a living heirloom.
Jamavar was commissioned by kings, nobles and travellers crossing the Silk Routes.
Its motifs — cypress, paisley, pomegranate —
represent prosperity, lineage, and the garden of paradise.
Jamavar is not worn to keep warm.
It is worn to be remembered.
Large Kani shawls with full-field motifs may take 6 to 24 months,
depending on needle count, colour complexity, and artisan mastery.
Materials & Authenticity
Its fibres are naturally soft, breathable, and exceptionally warm—
often finer than human hair.
Pashmina refers to the traditional Himalayan fibre, spun and woven by hand,
and is considered the most refined form of cashmere.
These subtle variations are the signature of authenticity, not defects.
Variation in screens and natural light can also change how colours appear.
In handmade pieces, colour nuance is a part of the craft, not an error.
